There's a company called NCH Software which makes these 2 programs, Debut Recorder & VideoPad Editor. Both are small in size (like 15 mb combined) and work perfectly together You can get the free trial version and when the trial period is up, go to "Add/Remove Programs" and it will allow an option for using a permanent free version of Debut Recorder.

Camtasia is a bit bigger, a few hundred MB's, but does the same thing basically. Its a so-so alternate application
